Projects#

The Projects screen lists the projects in the portal as cards, with search, sorting and filters. Open it from Projects in the navigation menu. Anyone can open it, signed in or not, and everyone sees the same list: the projects whose visibility is Public. A private project never appears here, not even for the people who work on it. They reach their private projects from the project’s own page. See How access to a record is decided for the reasoning.

The toolbar#

The toolbar sits above the list and has these controls:

  • Search matches the project’s name, its portal ID and the values of its identifiers.

  • Status keeps the projects at the stages you tick: Concept, Planning, In progress, Complete or Searching for collaborators.

  • Sort orders the list. The choices are Default order, Name (A-Z), Name (Z-A), Date created (oldest first) and Date created (newest first). Default order puts the most recently updated project first.

  • Filters opens a panel with the remaining filters.

  • Add opens Create a project. Only signed-in people see it.

The panel holds these filters:

  • Has image keeps the projects that have a cover image.

  • Owner keeps the projects owned by the organizations you choose.

  • Tag keeps the projects carrying a tag.

  • Contributor keeps the projects the people you choose are credited on.

  • Keywords keeps the projects carrying the keywords you tick. When the portal names keyword vocabularies, there is one filter for each vocabulary, labelled with the vocabulary’s name. See settings.

Filters combine, so a project must match all of them. Under the toolbar a line gives the number of projects that match and, when you have chosen a sort, the order the list is in.

The project cards#

Each card is one link to the project’s page. A card shows:

  • the project’s image, or an icon when it has none

  • a Project badge and a badge for its status

  • the number of public datasets in it, or No datasets

  • the project’s name

  • the first people credited on it, and the name of the owner organization

  • a short piece of the abstract

  • the project’s keywords

  • the portal ID, with a button that copies it

  • when the project was last updated

The list shows 25 projects to a page, with page links under the last card.

When the list is empty#

With nothing to show, the screen shows the heading There’s nothing here yet. A signed-in person also sees the line “You haven’t added any records yet. Click the button below to get started.” and an Add new button.

When a search or filter matches nothing, the heading reads No projects match, with the line “Try other words or fewer filters.” and a Clear all button.
