How to change the organization a person is credited from#

The organization a person is credited from is the one they were at when they did the work on this record. Change it when the wrong organization was chosen, or when you want a person to be credited on their own.

Before you start#

You need to manage the record, which means holding the Can manage level on it or on the record above it.

The choice is kept with this record only. It does not follow the person’s profile, so if they move to another institute later, the record still names the one you chose. Choosing an organization here also adds nothing to the person’s own affiliations.

Steps#

  1. Open the record’s page and choose its Contributors tab.

  2. Choose Edit beside the person.

  3. Under “Their affiliation for this” and the record’s kind, choose one of:

    • One of the person’s own affiliations. Their primary one is selected to begin with, and the others, past and present, are marked “Also current” or “Earlier, until” and a date.

    • Another organization. Start typing its name in the box and choose a suggestion from the portal. A name the portal does not have yet makes a new organization.

    • No affiliation, to credit the person on their own.

  4. Choose Save.

The result#

The Contributors tab shows the person with the organization you chose. The organization is listed under Organizations on the record too, once, however many people are credited from it. Only the organization changes. Their roles and what they may do on the record stay as they were.

The organization you replaced stays under Organizations. Remove it separately if it should go, which the portal allows once no one on the record is credited from it. See How to remove a contributor.

The screen is described on Contributors.
