People#
The People screen lists everyone the portal knows by name: the people who work on its records, whether or not they have an account. It is the place to find a colleague’s profile.
You reach it by opening Community in the navigation menu and choosing People, or by selecting Meet the people on the Home screen. Anyone can open it, signed in or not.
The list includes people who have never signed in, because the portal creates a profile for someone credited before they join. It leaves out superuser accounts, which exist only to run the portal.
The toolbar#
Along the top of the list are:
the heading People, with a count such as
12 usersa search box headed Contributor Name, with a Search button
an Active switch, which limits the list to people whose account is active
a Staff switch, which limits the list to staff accounts
a Filters button
Below the toolbar, each search or filter you have applied shows as a button. Selecting one removes it. When you have applied more than one, Clear all removes them together. Once a search or filter is applied, the count reads n results or No results.
The filters panel#
The Filters button opens a panel beside the list with three text boxes:
City
Country
Affiliation
Affiliation matches part of the name of an organization a person is affiliated with, ignoring capitals. The panel has an Apply button, and a Clear button once a filter in it is set.
The cards#
Each person is a card. Cards are laid out two across on a medium screen and three across on a wide one. A card shows:
the person’s photo, or their initials when they have none
their name, linked to their profile, followed by an ORCID icon when they have an ORCID iD
the organization they are primarily affiliated with, when they have one
the place of that organization, when it has one
a badge for each portal role they hold, such as Community Manager
The list shows 25 people to a page. When there are more, the foot of the screen shows Showing a range of the total, with page numbers. On a narrow screen it shows two buttons and the page count instead.
When it is empty#
A portal with nobody to list shows an icon and the heading There’s nothing here yet. The screen has no button for adding a person.
When a search or filter matches nobody, the heading reads No users match, with the line Try other words or fewer filters. and a Clear all button.
